Documents: 2003 BRA Policy for Developers

The Boston Redevelopment Authority ("BRA") has worked with the Environment Department to develop a policy on groundwater mitigation for new construction projects.

For any project located in an impacted area undergoing Article 80 Large Project Review, and where the Environment Department has recommended groundwater mitigation, the BRA, through the Article 80 Development Review Process will require the Developer to:

1. Install permanent monitoring wells where recommended to analyze the groundwater levels in Boston's neighborhoods
2. Provide permanent easements for access to the wells installed for long-term monitoring by the Boston Groundwater Trust
3. Provide a mechanism for monitoring wells and reporting results from wells associated with their sites satisfactory to the Boston Groundwater Trust
