Columbus Center

April 11, 2005 We have been asked to approve ten monitoring well locations for the Columbus Center project, including four wells to be located on Turnpike property adjacent to the MBTA railbed. We have returned our comments, which have included some relatively minor adjustments in location. The Columbus Center development team would also like the chance to present to the trustees on their plans for a recharge system, as described in the recent Boston Globe article. I would hope to have them at one of our upcoming meetings.
May 16, 2005 The developers of Columbus Center would like to make a presentation to the board of their plans for groundwater recharge. I would like to have them at our June meeting.
January 18, 2007 Columbus Center will be starting some preliminary work along the Turnpike shortly. It will probably be March or April before they get to the point where they will install the wells along the Turnpike.

March 22, 2007 It now looks like it will be summer before the wells along the Turnpike are installed. Columbus Center has been trying to reactivate one well behind 95 Berkeley Street that would be helpful in understanding what is happening in the Back Bay Station area recharge.
April 23, 2007 The Columbus Center project continues to be held up by financing issues. It is unclear when it will proceed.
