Prudential Center

September 27, 2007 I met with the developers and their geotechnical engineer to discuss groundwater issues surrounding the two new buildings proposed for the Pru. Because the entire Center is surrounded by a relatively impervious sheet pile wall (the integrity of which was demonstrated during the Mandarin Oriental project), we would like the required recharge to be done outside the sheet piling. Most likely, this would be on Exeter Street for the residential tower and on Belvidere or Dalton Street for the office building. The project is currently in the Article 80 review process; comments will be filed in October.
October 25, 2007 I filed comments on the groundwater aspects of the PNF, posted on our website. The proponents should be coming back shortly with more detailed plans on how they will meet the recharge requirements of the GCOD.
November 29, 2007 It appears that the only feasible location for recharge associated with the two new buildings proposed for the Prudential Center is in Exeter Street. As the project proceeds, there will likely be a meeting including the proponents and their engineers, BWSC, DPW, BGwT, and possibly BTD to work out the issues involved.
