FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Boston Groundwater Trust is pleased to announce a significant upgrade to its interactive map of groundwater levels in Boston. The new map, based on GoogleMaps technology, presents a much clearer graphic interface. The map fills a larger portion of the screen, the streets are more clearly identified, and the current information is easier to read. Historic information is presented in an easier to view format and additional information about the individual observation wells is now displayed on the screen with the readings.
We have also developed a version of the map that is optimized for use on tablet computers and smartphones. The map is resized to fit these smaller screens, some information appears as drop-downs to allow for a larger map, and all can be accessed using the Apple or Android operating systems. This should make it much easier for people to access information about particular locations while away from their homes or offices.
Both versions of the map are accessible under the "Wells" tab on our website, www.bostongroundwater.org.
The Boston Groundwater Trust was established by the Boston City Council to monitor groundwater levels in sections of the city where the integrity of building foundations is threatened by low groundwater levels and to make recommendations for solving the problem.
