Christian Simonelli was appointed Executive Director of the Boston Groundwater Trust in October, 2014. He was first hired by the Trust in 1999 as a Field Engineer on a part-time basis. From 2002-14 Mr. Simonelli worked full time as the Trust Technical & Recharge Coordinator. During that time he supervised the installation, performed groundwater level readings for every well located in the Trust’s 800 plus well network, advocated for groundwater recharge in all the areas of the City with wood pile supported structures, and helped acquire and organize countless documents to obtain a better understanding of the ground water issue in Boston.

During his tenure as Executive Director Mr. Simonelli has developed and revamped the Trust website, maintained a consistent reading schedule for all observation wells, worked with various developers on projects throughout the City to ensure that they would have no negative impacts on groundwater levels, and continuously emphasized the important relationship of healthy groundwater levels and wood piling supported buildings.

Mr. Simonelli is a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology with a degree in Environmental Engineering.
